Robert Edward 'Bob' Brookmeyer (1929-2011) was an American jazz valve trombonist, pianist, arranger, and composer who gained fame with Gerry Mulligan's quartet and worked with major jazz artists including Stan Getz, Jimmy Giuffre, and Clark Terry. He was a 2006 NEA Jazz Master who received eight Grammy nominations and had a prolific career spanning over 50 years, releasing over 35 albums as leader and playing on hundreds as sideman.
