Thergothon was a Finnish funeral doom metal band active from 1990 to 1993, based in Turku/Kaarina, Finland, featuring members Niko 'Skorpio' Sirkiä, Jori Sjöroos, and Mikko Ruotsalainen. Widely regarded as a foundational pioneer of the funeral doom subgenre, they released one demo and one studio album, 'Stream from the Heavens' (1994), before disbanding, later gaining cult status. A tribute album, 'Rising of Yog-Sothoth: A Tribute to Thergothon,' was later released in their honor.
