Larry Young was an American jazz organist and occasional pianist, born in Newark, New Jersey on October 7, 1940, and died in 1978. Known also by the Muslim name Khalid Yasin Abdul Aziz, he pioneered a modal, Coltrane-influenced approach to the Hammond organ and collaborated with Miles Davis, Tony Williams, and John McLaughlin. His album 'Unity' is considered a landmark jazz recording.
