William Earl 'Bootsy' Collins is an American funk bassist, singer, songwriter, and producer born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1951. He rose to prominence with James Brown's band The J.B.'s, then became a central figure in George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic collective, before launching his own successful act, Bootsy's Rubber Band.
